🎬 Video Editor

I am looking for an experienced video editor for my channel, Engineering with Utsav, which currently has just over 135k subscribers.

The goal of the channel is to help software engineers get the best out of their careers by mentoring them around five key pillars of career development — technical skills, engineering efficiency, mindset, entrepreneurship and financial freedom. Since 90% of my content is educational, they are talking-head videos. I am looking for someone who can use B-Roll, motion graphics, animations, overlays and sound design to help me tell a more engaging story.

Scope of work

  • 🎬 Basic Editing

    90% of my A-Roll is talking head. These will need to be edited to remove the empty spaces, outtakes, umms and aahs to make it smooth and clean. The audio will also need to go through post to remove noise, pops, S’s and such.

  • 📷 B-Roll

    For some videos, I can provide B-Roll footage where I record them myself, but most of it will probably come from stock footage websites. Appropriate B-Roll will need to be selected that enhances the quality of the video/story. Knowledge and understanding of the software engineering space can help here.

  • 📊 Motion graphics & overlays

    I give out a lot of stats and related information. That will need to be displayed as motion graphics (graphs, charts, overlays). Not only that, but for concepts that are complex to just talk about, I would ideally like to have animations.

  • 🎼 Sound design

    Sound and music are important to me. So, a knack for picking the right sound design and background music to enhance the story beats would be great!

  • #️⃣ Quantity

    I make 2-4 videos a month, but 2 per month is the general cadence. On-time delivery is critical, since most of my videos have very strict publish dates.

  • 💰Rate

    This is a freelance position. I am open to either hourly rates or per-video rate. Please submit your proposal in the application below. If I enjoy your work and working with you, this can turn into a full-time position in the future :)

Basic Requirements

  • Experience with motion graphics — graphs, charts, animations are common in educational videos as they are key to adding visual interest.

  • Must have adequate internet bandwidth. Most of my videos are around 10 minutes in length, but are recorded in ProRes 4K, which means that the assets could be 100-200 GB in size

Ideal candidate

  • You have edited YouTube videos before. If you have, please include link(s) to the channel or your best work in the application below.

  • You have experience editing thumbnails. This isn’t required but if you have a good knack for creating thumbnails, I would consider that a bonus.

  • You know my channel and understand my tone.

  • You have interest in the software engineering space, and at least understand the area at a very high level.
